Performances

SHOW ORDERS: Links are included at the bottom of this page.

COSTUMES: Before dropping off your dancers, please triple-check they have EACH & EVERY costume item. This is especially critical when returning for a 2nd or 3rd performance. We cannot stress this enough.

Label everything!! Costumes, water bottles, makeup bags, iPads, etc.

FOOD/DRINK: Soda, juice, and any other kinds of liquids other than water are not allowed in the “backstage” areas. If dancers bring snacks, they need must not stain or make a mess.

Bake Sale: If dancers would like anything from the bake sale, please visit before their call-time so they can take it with them BEFORE the show starts. Dancers may not visit the Commons during intermission.

ARRIVAL: Check-in times & room assignments are posted HERE (coming soon!). Dancers need to arrive in stage-ready costume, hair, makeup (except for lipstick, which can be applied right before stage time) for their first dance.

3-10 years: Parents/guardians need to sign-in dancers. You will receive a sticker with your dancer's name on it. This becomes your “ticket” to enter backstage to pick up your child at check out time.

12+ years: Dancers do not need a parent for check-in, but must sign in.

HAIR/COSTUME CHANGES: Backstage group leaders and specially-assigned volunteers will be on hand to assist with hair and costume changes during the performance. Pop-up tents will be in each room, but we HIGHLY recommend dancers wear a “nude”/skintone leotard underneath costumes for quick and easy costume changes. These can be purchased at a discount from the studio office.

DEPARTURE:  Dancers who perform in the first half only may choose to check-out at intermission, but are unable to re-enter for the curtain call (final bow). Dancers who perform in the second half only, and have a ticket to watch the first half from the audience, may check-in during intermission. Any and all exceptions must be cleared with Jenica ahead of time 503-780-4947.

Regardless of age, dancers may NOT leave the backstage area to visit the Commons during intermission.

For the safety of our dancers, only ONE adult per dancer—the one with the name sticker—may go back to the choir/band rooms.

FOR FAMILY MEMBERS & FRIENDS

Applause: Enthusiastic applause and cheering is encouraged—the louder the better!! Dancers rush off stage saying, “did you hear how loud they clapped for us!?” So, applaud all of those moments they’ve worked so hard to achieve. Note: Please do not yell dancers’ names; this well-intentioned gesture breaks their concentration when they need it the very most.

Auditorium: Please refrain from entering and exiting during the performance. It is very distracting to the performers and to the audience. If urgent, ushers will allow doors to open between numbers. No eating or drinking in the auditorium (including bake sale items). Please do not make Lonnie and Jenica clean up after you.

Backstage: Friends and family are NOT permitted beyond the back hallway doors during the performance or intermission. There is a LOT of activity in a limited space, and the dressing rooms are private areas. Any and all exceptions must be cleared with Jenica ahead of time. 503-780-4947.

After the Performance: Celebrate your child’s achievement! Whether it went perfectly or had a few stumbles, focus on their effort and their growth. Offer praise and encouragement, free from any comparisons or critique. Let them share their feelings about the experience.

Recital Video Recording: The recital is professionally filmed by Chris Nelson and available to purchase in DVD, USB, or digital download. Video Order Form
