  • Stage makeup items (see below)

  • Team jacket

  • Warmup clothes, shoes to wear over costumes and/or when not in costume

  • Water bottle

  • Pack lunches, dinners, protein snacks as applicable

  • Overnight items: pajamas, personal items, etc.

  • Quiet activities for the car and time between performances

  • Emergency items such as sewing kit, band-aides, advil, etc

  • Optional for Competition Days: They’re fun, but can also be very long, exhausting, and overstimulating. We don’t often have time to return to hotels to rest between dances, so you might consider bringing something like a small camping sleep pad, pillow, blanket for relaxing in a quiet corner. Also, seating is often limited outside of the auditorium, so we’d suggest having a camp chair in your car for adults, just in case.

CONVENTION PACK LIST

  • Snacks.. Classes are high energy and back-to-back. Pack lots of healthy protein and carbs that will provide quick, easy fuel during the day.

  • Water Bottle. Very important! Consider bringing good quality hydration/electrolyte packets as well.

  • Dance Shoes. Bring whatever you have; no need to purchase anything new: jazz, half-soles, ballet, tap, latin/ballroom, hip hop, dance socks.

  • Dance Clothes. Dancers will have classes in a variety of styles each day. Because there are usually only a few minutes between classes, plan outfits that can work across styles and/or layers: jazz, contemporary, hip hop, tap, latin/ballroom, ballet, etc. SDA’s modest dress code applies at convention.

  • After Hours. Bring comfy, casual outfits for dinner, watching competition, etc.

  • Makeup. Rooms are hot and sweaty; don’t bother with makeup for class.

  • Personal. Pajamas, toiletries, deodorant, stuff for the drive, phone/charger, etc.

  • Costumes. Only if you are competing your solo or duet.

  • Raincoat. Check the weather!
